Start capacitor for Armstrong 14 A/C

I think I need a new start capacitor for my A/C.

My air conditioner in my 31' Sovereign was working well until the 95 degree Texas heat yesterday. Now the fan will turn on and the compressor will try for a few seconds, but will not kick on. It will repeat trying to start about every one minute.

I removed the shroud and found a large round capacitor next to the condenser coil, and it is marked 370 v, 30 uf. Is this the start or the run capacitor? Should I look for another capacitor and what is the capacitor's size?

I replaced both the run and start capacitors and now the AC works great!

Thanks for the update, PD. How much did it cost, and how involved was the work?

Thanks - Pat

The capacitors cost about $8 each, I got them from the guy that services my air conditioners at home. All of the work took about one hour and was very straight forward. This old A/C will freeze you out!
