Removing the Armstrong AC unit was a slow task. It takes time to dig out 150 sheetmetal screws. This unit was mounted with lots of screws and more roof caulking. The heat gun softens the caulking enough to remove the coating over the screws. The good old DeWalt drill/driver removed the screws quickly. There are also wires to cut for the t-stat control and the romex wiring for AC power. It was a bit of a chore to slide the unit off the roof on a piece of 1/4 inch plywood down a ladder. The new unit, a Coleman, is a little heavier, so some structual engineering is needed. The span on our '79 Land Yacht 31 ft is 43 inches between ribs. My first thot is to brace above roof line. The interior ceiling is very fragile. The support material will be some 1 inch square tubing with 1/8 inch wall thickness. I just love a good challenge.

We are looking for TR21-12 Shroud. This fits 73 Overlander. Have been quoted $375 from a parts place, but we can't afford that! If anyone has one they would like to sell, resonable, we'd like to buy it.

I am looking for an OEM selector switch. mine does not seem to be original equipment.
I am looking for the selector switch that has about 7 or 8 positions on it like High fan, Low fan, high cool , low cool , heat, etc...
This switch is on the left side of the unit facing the control panel.
My switch only has four positions but thew faceplate has many more positions identified on it. I have to put the switch in the "heat" position for it to cool, Hmmm?
Any way I will be happy to pay fro the postage and shipping of the unit.
Before you install the new unit, could you take a few pictures of it without the shroud on it. These would be great reference pictures for the Forums in the future.
Some pictures of the old unit without the shroud would be great also.

Just came across this thread re: AC replacement and saw that you have the shroud for the unit available. I have a 79 31' Soverign and I am looking for a new shroud (both top and bottom if possible but esp. the top portion). Is this still available? Thanks, AJ
I have tried to send the shroud to a guy in FL. The UPS guy wanted me to build a box for same and support cover so as that other packages would not crush same. I don't want another task. It is free to whomever picks up shroud. This is a fragile part. The part could become trash in shipment. Frank
