No, you get to cut that 14" square hole. Having to do that is part of the reason I restored my original Bay Breeze air conditioner.
It still works great, and I feel I made the right choice to get it working again.
By the way, ALL licensed, certified, air-conditioning technicians are required by law to capture the refrigerant in an air conditioner instead of releasing it to the atmosphere. That being said, a lot of them around here don't - I have personally witnessed it.
So if you go to the trouble of hiring someone to empty the system, make sure they do it the legal way.
After that, you can dig down in the pile of putty around the copper pipes & find the unions where the top & bottom units are
screwed together. I don't think you will need to cut anything.
