Hi,
I'm planning to remove the refrigerator from a 69 Sovereign, have you tried it yet ? Do you have any suggestions on removing it.

Heavyduty,

Not sure about 61 but for my 64 I just replaced the furnace. It removed to the outside. I had to disconnect electrical wires and gas line, then removed 2 screws holding unit to plenum duct mount. From outside I had to remove heat shield then drill out rivets holding large trim cover in place and slide the entire unit out. New Suburban furnace installed from inside and is much easier to deal with. Only 2 round holes in outer skin instead of large 19"x21" opening.

On my 1963 Overlander the furnace also removes to the outside. It leaves a large rectangular opening, much like the opening for a water heater.

The refrigerator in my '67 is bolted to the floor on one side, and affixed to the countertop on both sides at the top. If I wanted to remove it, I would have to remove the oven to gain access to one side of the countertop attachments, and remove the wall partition to gain access to the other attachment.

After removing the nuts holding the refrigerator to the floor mounted studs, the countertop would need to be removed so the refrigerator could clear the studs. I suppose you could remove the studs from underneath the trailer, but have never verified.

Obviously, the gas & power lines would also need to be disconnected. I would suppose you have a very similar arrangement.

Good luck,
Tom
