Question for "LEWSTER" & others about furnace board

Lew,
I am in the process of rebuilding my NT35K furnace. I will order a new Dinosaur board # UIB-L, a new Sail Switch and as many of the gaskets
as I can get come Monday, 1/05/09 .
I'll make the rest of the gaskets out of similar materials as I found during the dis-assemble stage. Materials are available here.
The Time Delay Swith, ECO, Gas Valve & Motor all test as good.

My question is this.
I see that Dinosaur Boards makes a "Extend-a-life" kit that lets the module board be located OUTSIDE the furnace. But it has it's own fuse that is then
left inside the furnace.
As far as I can see, this kit is just a "wire extender".

Am I wrong in thinking this?

The area my furnace fits into is under the kitchen range w/oven and there is plenty of room for the board to be mounted there.
As I understand this furnace's wiring, the ONLY wire that would need to be lengthened is the RED wire going from the boards plug to the Sail Switch.
A simple soldered extension w/ heat shrink insulation would accomplish this.
All other wires will reach the new board location with some extra and the wires can all run through the same grommet
as the power, ground & T-stat wires do now.

IS there a problem with my line of thought?

Moving the board out of the furnace heat makes sence to me. It would make access to the boards fuse easier BUT I hope I never need to change the fuse.

The reason for moving the board away from the furnace is heat. The intense heat can lead to premature failure of the board.
