"SRanger- I looked at those jet burners- too localized a flame, I'm guessing they may be a little noisy."

I only used the regulator/valve/hose from the weed torch, and hooked it to the turkey cooker burner (the ony part that wasn't damaged) which has a much wider flame. Not noisy at all, just a low hiss. Can't wait to see how your project works out. I hope you'll post pictures.

The best campfires have two main ingredients: a source of fuel and a large liquid oxygen tank. Yee-Haa!

This thread has had me thinkin and it is scary when you get a hillbilly thinkin. If you use the burner from a turkey fryer. Mount that in the bottom of the wash drum and then some vermiculite... those fryer burners throw out some serious flame, all that gas bubbling up through the vermiculite should be nice. If you really want to set it off put three of them in there run three hoses and three tanks. Maybe some thirty or forty pound propane tanks. Big fire for sure. turkey fryers and gas logs are easy yard sale finds, this should cost like $7.25. Plenty of cash left over for more beer

Progress

Well some of you asked for updates- So I've picked up a 35" fire ring thing at half off at the local grocery store. Well actually Linda Lu snagged it.
Then I got the burner, 24" diameter with a 12" dia, inner ring. 32 holes on the outer ring 16 on the inner ring and 3 holes in the each of the 4 in between arms, hole size "41. Now I need to come up with some sort of mixer to induce air into the system. But just for grins I may go direct drive just for experimentation purposes only.

PROPANE FIRE PIT!! That looks to be the beginings of a serious bonfire! Hopefully when I see a red glow to the southwest of us that it will be you and not another forest fire........do grapes burn??
Neil.

PS. Will that fire ring drive up the price of propane!

Only if he augers out all of the holes to "up" the BTUs...which he probably will...

Looks great Tim, keep the updates coming as you tweak it.
