Penguin drain pan gasket

I am ready to install my new Penguin A/C.

While dry-fitting the drain pan, I noticed that the gasket on the bottom of the A/C needs to be modified to allow clearance for the drain channels in the special Airstream drain pan.

My question is: does the factory carve away part of the gasket, or do they just let the gasket squoosh down into the drain channel?

I'm afraid if I don't remove part of the gasket, it will eventually block the drain channel.

Anyone with experience installing a Penguin on the factory drain pan, please let me know how you handled this.

In the pictures, I've marked with masking tape the general area that needs to be relieved.

Don, I will be very interested in the replies and your results. I am having trouble with condensate draining in my 2006 Safari with the 11,000 btu Penguin. It is holding to much condensate while running. Turn it off and there is a "gush" of water draining out the tube. I have had the cover off of mine and can't find the blockage. Now I believe I know what it is. I'm forwarding your post to my dealer. Please keep us posted as to the final results.

Camping World just installed a Penguin A/C and I also ordered the matching drip pan from Airstream, you need to remove the gasket completely, then replace with recommend caulking, and apply lots in place of the gasket, we used a whole tube, then they placed the drip pan on topn of the trailer, make sure that you hve somebody inside to help you line up the opening, than with 2 guys on top and one guy in the trailer, place the A/C on top, you will get some caulking coming inside the trailer, that is a good thing, clean up the floor and you are good to go, I would also check with Airstrem tech support as a double check, we did, and that was the procedure we followed, I ran my drip tube thru the cabinet, than to a back closet and out, we used a water hose off CW shelf as a trip tube and it worked perfect, we lefted the small pieces of foam for support to the drip pan.
