New A/C in CCD makes chirping sounds

Is this normal - maybe need to give it a break-in period ? We have a new 19 ft CCD that we have had about 4 months. The a/c works fine but intermittantly (more than not) makes an obnoxious chirping noise that can be heard inside and out. It is not all that loud inside, but noticeable enough to keep you awake. It got to the point last weekend, we just turned it off and sweated the night out. Searched several forums but havent found anything yet. Is this normal for an Airstream A/c unit ? This is a/c unit that comes standard.

Anyone else have this problem ?

Thanks

This isn't normal. We had a 11k unit in our 2003 and now a 15k unit in our 2004 neither of them did that. If you don't have a dealer close, I'd call Dometic/DuoTherm, have your serial number to the unit handy and talk it over with them. It sounds like a repair is needed. If there isn't an Airstream dealer, perhaps if there is an issue, Dometic/DuoTherm can get you in touch with a local Dometic/DuoTherm service center.

Thanks for the response SilverTwinkie - I am taking it down to Dandy RV in Birmingham to get a leaky toilet and non working FFan fixed. Will have them check it out in addition to contacting the manufacturer.

Chirping can be a bad bearing in the fan motor...

It drive me nuts, too.
