M52 fridge t-stat won't react

Fired up the fridge this weekend. It works on electric, @40 degrees in the box, 20 in the freezer, swings 5-10 degrees through the day when measured in the box (it's turned up almost all the way too). Ambient temps in the high 60's. I swsitched to gas and the t-stat doesn't make the visible flame change or even shut off. Am I looking at the pilot or is that the burner and should be seeing a change in flame height with t-stat adjustment? We're going to take the rig out in 3 weeks for a maiden voyage and I haven't even got to the water system yet, HELP PLEASE! Is there anything I can check or clean or what?

Thanks in Advance!

The pilot should be under a small tube that goes back to the gas regulator. The burner will be near it and should have a small grille over it the flame area is less than 1X 1/2 inches. Is the burner is lit and stays lit once you have the pilot lit then there two different issues. One is whether the electric themostat is cooling the refer down far enough or Two is the gas thermostat right, or is it just broken.

I would light it and leave it for a few hours and see if the temps stay steady or drop while running on gas. It may just be a diffrence in thermost sensitivity. If the main burner will not come on there may a LP pressure issue that needs to be resolved first.

Okay, so what I initially lit IS the pilot? The flame it was giving off is approx. 1x1/2 in area. I will relight it tonight and see what happens. Will the t-stat control the size of the flame or will it be a cyclical action (on/off dependent on temp)?

On/off depending on demand is the normal operation.
