Lost AC shroud on highway, will it leak ?

Hi Guys..

during my most recent trip in strong wind, i lost the AC shroud , including some hardware ( some fan-blades , the radiator )

Since i am located in Europe, it will be hard to find a replacement 110 Volt AC quickly.

if i travel without the shroud in the rain.. .. will it leak ?

thank you for your opinions !

Axel

Yes, the rain will come right in. Without the shroud, the A/C system is basically wide open to the elements. I had to replace mine this year also, but fortunately found it cracked before it actually blew off.

I would suggest you find some heavy duty sheet plastic and duct tape that over the system until you can get a replacement shroud.

Andy,

For my 1986 excella 32 ft.
It was a coleman, i cleaned the shroud 2 days before losing it , it seemed OK then, and felt very attached to the rest of the trailer.

i am thinking about replacing it with a carrier low profile.

Axel.

That AC shroud is cosmetic. All RV AC's are "ugly" without a cover.

There cannot be a leak caused by the missing shroud.

The only leak you could have with that AC, is if it was loose in it's mounting, or if the gasket is bad.

A Carrier high or low profile, is an excellent choice, if you choose to replace the AC.

Go with a 15,000 BTU model.
