is my Globetrotters furnace shot?

Recently while enjoying a weeks stay at Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach we got to experience a costal downpour and water began leaking from the furnace in in our 63 Trotter. The furnace is the original Carlson wall heater Model 8M. It had been checked by a technician when I got the trailer and pronounced in perfect working order. The manual said it is a totally sealed unit with all intake air/exaust coming in from the outside vent so I ventured into the storm sealed the vent and the leak stopped. From this I have surmised that the furnace has a hole in it and is shot. Is this the case or is something else going on that can be fixed?

If the furnace is done for, any suggestions on a replacement? Would a catalytic heater be a good choice as it looks like one would fit this space?

Hello,

I just purchased a Globe Trotter, and was searching for info on the heater and came across your post. Was wonder if you got any answers through PM's as nobody answered you here. I could use any information you did get or researched as I am having trouble getting mine to work.

Thanks

Ken
