Interior cover of DuoTherm replacement needed

I want to replace the interior cover with controls for my DuoTherm 57915 air conditioner. The current cover is yellowed and old looking. Does anyone know what will fit?

Paint the cover you have.

Those covers are not cheap.

I sprayed one of ours with Rustoleum "aluminum" looks awesome. $4 at home depot.

I am in somewhat of the same boat. The Dometic interior cover cracked this weekend on my recently pre-owned purchase 2007 Safari and one of the filter tabs is broken as well. I have the wall control model and see where I can buy a new box with filters for $69.00 from RV parts wholesalers. So I may just do that.

However this is a 2007 Duo-Therm Penguin and IMHO looks like it is a design out of the 70's and totally inappropriate for the interior of an AS! In addition it appears that you are mating a FLAT AC cover to a curved ceiling. No wonder it cracks! Does anyone know if any newer ( and better looking!) model interior air boxes will mate up to the existing non-ducted AC unit? Some of the newer units look more contoured as well. Are the mounting holes to the AC units pretty standard?

Thanks!
Randall

I would second Andy's advice to paint the cover you have. Cracks can be repaired with ABS cement or epoxy.

There are a number of vintages of Dometic air boxes. Not all are compatible. I don't know how to tell which ones fit what.

I have an older Dometic A/C in my Cayo C-11. I painted the air box. It looks great.

Nix the reference in my original message to the Interior part being available from RV Parts Wholesalers. It is not available and they state they will not be restocking. I used some 5 Minute Epoxy to place a small plastic "bridge" across the crack on the inside and clamped it tight. You can not even see where it was broken. Also when I reattached to the bracket I put some small rubber grommets between the cover and the ceiling to provide some shock protection. Seems to work like a charm. Still has the gap created by placing a flat box against a curved surface. Beyond me why this was designed like this unless my preowned unit has a cover not intended for Airstreams. Does anyone else have a Dometic Penguin in a 2007 safari with the same issue?
Regards;
Randall

To keep the cover from cracking, (actually after repairing a crack in the center) due to a flat cover on a round ceiling, I glued five 3/16" flat washers together and stack them between the cover tab and the metal A/C plenum before screwing the screw down. The padding in the ceiling takes up the gap in the center of the cover.

BTW, does anyone know if the distribution vanes are available separately from the cover? I have one with broken vane tabs and they flop closed.

The filter grates are available separately. I had to replace one.

I discovered my air distribution box in my 2008 Classic 25fb is cracking down the middle above the vents. Must be due the extreme cold weather this trailer was moved into this past March from DFW to Missouri and the curve of the roof. I found another thread where some have upgraded to the new style of the air distribution box. However, because the newer covers have a smaller foot print the impressions left in the vinyl ceiling from the square corners of the old box will probably remain which will bug me probably more than the cracks.
