installing new water heater

I just purchased a new Atwood 6 gal. replacement water heater for my "84 25' Sovrn. I disconnected the old one and tugged it out, switched the plumbing fittings and slid the new one in. The hardest part was the sliding out and in as the fit is very tight but it goes. It was easy enough for a duffer like me.

Was there was already a by-pass built in, or did you install one? This was your opportunity to look after that, just in case that trailer ever decides to spend a winter up north.

By the way, did your original door fit the new unit, or did you have to use the plain beige one that came with the new heater?
If it's to be, it's up to me.

There was a bypass installed on the piping behind the unit and it fit and worked. The door that came with my unit worked. It was a very simple matter of unhooking the old unit, pulling it out, sliding the new unit in and attaching the existing plumbing. The only problem and it is just minor is that the latching mechanism is hard to pull far enough out to turn and lock. I think this will free up with time.
