We have an "Insta-Matic" airconditioner installed in our 75 22' Argosy. We do have the installation manual for it. (looks like original, mid 70's equipment, as this document refers to the 1-800 phone # as a "Watts Line!")
This unit is big, square (ugly), & doesn't have a cowling like an Armstrong.
The unit doesn't get cold anymore . . . so:
1) Is it possible to repair? (probably not due to the old freon);
2) Replace with new A/C
- the manual doesn't show any type of drain hose attachment
- did the small Argys of this year even have drain hoses like their shiny brothers of the same era?
3) Scrap the unit & install a fantastic fan?
The A/C opening appears to be a square 14", braced with wood around the sides. Even the manual says the opening has to be 14" square. (We had a 74 31' with Armstrong A/C & the opening seemed more of a creative shape!)
We're on the west coast & the only time we've ever used the A/C is during the week of the Salem Int'l rally . . .
Any bits of wisdom out there about this old A/C . . . .
