help with airconditioning thermostat

We have tried the A/C a couple of times before and it had been working. Now that we are getting close to actually using our AS we checked it again and are not getting any cold air.

When we turned it on at first we got a loud rumbling which subsided quickly, I assume this was the compressor. The fan came on fine too. I am hoping all we need is refrigerant. However, we don't know what the settings are on the thermostat. In the manual it says to set to "cool" ( probable a good idea) but we don't have any marked setting for that.

We have three distinct settings that the control "clicks" to. The first is marked "sys" ---system?? And the other two have no id marks at all. Can someone enlighten me as to what they are and which would be "cool"?

Odd looking set up, not familiar..

How long did you let it run? Sometimes it takes a few minutes to cool the air.

I have had one of mine recharged and it worked great after. That may be what you need...

Wannaroam,
Stupid question; are you plugged into a 30 amp cirquit??? Don't try to run the AC unit on one of those 15 to 30 amp adaptors. You will ruin the AC unit.

Make sure that the compressor is really running. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the compressor to start, depending on the model. If the compressor is running and you don't get cold air from the unit uou may be low on gas, a clogged capillary tube or a faulty compressor. Good luck.......
