Help We Have A 1978 Tradewind Air Conditioning

We have a 1978 Tradewind center twins. I tried the air conditioner for the first time I wanted to try the heating unit. I set the thermostat to heat, then set the temp. to 80 degrees... then turned on the blower of the air unit no heat. Experts what next? We bought this unit last May and just starting to get it going. thanks I appreciate any help...

The "heat strip" of your AC unit (if it's original) is really minimal.

On all three of my AC units around your vintage, in warmer weather, I cannot detect with my hand if the heat strip is working or not. In cooler weather you may be able to detect a heat rise, but it is minimal.

With a decent thermometer placed at the inlet louver get a stabilized temp reading, then get another stabilized temp with the thermometer in one of the outlet louvers....do not be surprised if the temp increase is only a few degrees.

The heater elements and the controls for the older units are fairly bullet proof but they actually put out very little heat.
