I'm wondering if I should get a different unit, since these seem to be problematic.

I don't want to brag on my forty year old Armstrong TOO MUCH because tomorrow is another day....

But it is 66 degrees in my trailer sitting in southern New Mexico right now....

It has been working hard all day every day for well over a month now.

It seems as if they really don't make um like they used to.

They sure don't. It seems like these Chinese made Dometics are not very reliable.

If it weren't for posters on this forum I would have removed and replaced my "old" unit with a "new and reliable" unit

I owe a debt of gratitude to this forum for two years of reliable cooling from my old girl.

It has worked long and hard in these two years, making a comfortable "office" for me even when parked.

I miss the simple reliability of what used to be the mainstay of "made in the USA".

Dave,
You might try the RVP Coleman low profile Mach 8. It is a toss up as I think they are also made in China. The Dometics are all made in China. Same thing with the Advent.

Your other option would be to find a scrap trailer with an Armstrong and transplant it on your trailer.

My Armstrong is still running like a champ 43 years later with just a few things needing repairs along the way. Knock on wood.

The RVP Coleman company is in Kansas. But have you looked at an RVP Coleman unit in the last year?

They are using some Chinese components (as almost everyone is today) but the final assembly point is Kansas.

That's a whole lot better than Dometic. At least some American hands are in the mix.
Thanks Lew
