Heat Pump/Air Condition Blowing Hot Air

Ok you guys, I know I haven't been on for a while but now that I'm retired and settled in, I am getting my AS ready to HIT THE ROAD ! In the process, as I was checking out all the systems, my AC was blowing hot air. I called the AS repair shop in Paramount, CA where I go, and ask'd Rod if he know anyone who would come to the location of the AS to fix it. He recommended Don's RV Repair out of Anaheim, California. I give him a call and made the appointment and he was on time.

In any case, got the AC fix'd and we're now in business. I wanted to post this because I know there will be times that one is looking for a honest/affordable and knowledgeable tech. Don is that guy! I was pleased with the end result and the reasonable price for the repairs. (Wife was happy too ! )

So, that being said, I wanted to share this info with you just in case for those of you in the area are in need of a good honest RV repair guy.

That happened to me a few years ago on my Classic 25. The heat pump would occasionally stay in heat pump mode instead of switching to AC mode. The AC unit was replaced twice and worked for a time each time and the thermostat was replaced once with no results. When the problem occurred again at the Springfield International at near 100 degrees outside, I swapped the 25 for my current Classic 28. No problems with my current trailer.

The thermostat is connected to the AC/heat pump by a very long 4-wire telephone cord and all of the excess cord is wadded up behind the microwave. In retrospect, I think I had a bad microwave that was emitting RF into the telephone cord. The microwave was the only component not questioned or changed at the time. That is the only thing I can conceive that could destroy 3 successive AC units in the same manner.
