Gas Smell - Suburban in '76 Globetrotter

Greetings:

Last year I removed my Suburban furnace to clean - it was making a noise and I removed a Wasps nest from the "hamster" wheel. It's quiet and works great but unless I turn off the outside gas feed, there is a slight leak. I removed the threaded pipe that goes into the unit and applied some pipe dope. Still the smell is there.

If anyone has experience in troubleshooting, I'm very eager to know. I know I can buy a new one but this one really does work quite well.

Thanks much,

Ken Tuvman

Use soapy water--homemade or the store-bought stuff--to find gas leaks. A spray bottle is a convenient applicator.

Spray the gas lines, valves, etc. liberally, and then watch closely. A leak will make a bubble.

For your safety, keep looking until you find and fix the leak.
