From reading this thread and previous links it appears my questions may be answered but not quite sure as most applied to newer AS models.

I am installing a new Suburban NT30SP furnace in my 64 Airstream trailer.

I would like to install a new digital, programmable, set back thermostat.

Am I correct that a conventional Honeywell or Hunter, programmable, internal AA battery powered house thermostat will work on 12vDC system?

The standard 24 volt Hunter thermostats should work fine for you. Here is one that is programmable that is very similar to the non programmable unit that I had put in my Safari. According to the manual for this thermostat, it derives its power from the AA batteries only.

The major issue is the fact that the internal battery has to supply the power for the thermostat, rather than the transformer found on most furnaces. That's why I used the "Just Right" digital thermostat. If you choose another brand or model (other than these two) you will need to verify the power source for the thermostat. I had the Safari for 2 years with this thermostat and never replaced the batteries. Here is the unit I used.

Note that many thermostat manufactures offer information or manuals for the indivudual units on their web site.
