Furnace Problem
In my 1972 Overlander with a Suburban NT30 furnace, when I light the pilot light, simultaneously the burner lights as well, on a very low flame. I suspect that the gas valve is stuck open or leaks and fills the combustion chamber and is then ignited by the pilot lighter. However, when the ignitor port cover is replaced, the flame is extinguished in a minute, no oxygen I think. If the cover is left open, it continues to burn. When the thermostat is raised, the fan turns on and the burner comes on full force as long as the lighter port cover is open throwing a blue flame from the cover( quite exciting!). With the lighter port cover closed the burner and pilot are extinguished when the fan comes on. Once again, seems to point to no oxygen. Any wisdom from the experts on the forum would be appreciated. Thanks
