Unhappy Furnace - not sparking

Hi there

I'm restoring a 1965 Safari in the UK which has an Intertherm furnace model number MGF1720. There is 12V power coming into the unit and LPG but when I try and ignite by pressing down the lever nothing happens. Iwould have expected a click or noise of some sort but nothing....any ideas gratefully received.

I believe you have the infamous furnace made by "International Oil Burner".

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THEY HAVE A GREAT TENDANCY TO EXPLODE

The burner system falls apart because of the poor design, and then is difficult to light.

Remove the furnace and destroy it. It can easily be replaced.

Parts have NOT been available for that furnace for over 40 years, because of the liability to the seller.

That furnace had over a dozen service bulletins, because of it's malfunctions and explosions.

Thanks Andy - I saw a previous post about the International furnaces and was hoping this wasnt one of them - it's outta here. You're a star - where would we be without you!
