Furnace leveling

Installing new Suburban NT30 furnace. Does it need to sit level? The old original unit was mounted with 1/2" down slope to rear (sloped down through outside of exterior wall) Could this be for water/condensation drainage? a mistake?

Not a mistake---that sounds about right, as it's for what you mentioned.
