Furnace just goes 'Click"

My 84 Excella has a fairly new Suburban heater. It has been working, but now when I turn on the thermostat, I hear the heater just go "Click". The blower does not turn on at all and the heater never starts. Any ideas? Winter is slowly approaching and the autumn already feels cold.

Many thanks,
Ben

The LPG wil not feed the furnace burner, unless the motor runs. When the motor runs, the air moves a "sail switch" which in turn activates the LPG valve.

For what ever reason, your motor is not running. It could be the relay, it could be a disconnected wire, it could be a bad motor.

Pulling the furnace out for a bench check, should answer the question.

What you hear is the fan relay closing.

You will have to get into the heater and determine why the fan does not come on once the relay closes. There could be something physically holding the fan blades, some have reported mud dubbers, or the fan motor may be open.

Unfortunately you may have to remove the heater to get to the areas in question. Once removed and you have inspected to see if the fan is free to move I would hook 12 volts to the fan motor and see if runs. If the fan is free and runs when powered than work you way back to the fan relay and check for a bad relay.

.... some have reported mud dubbers.........

That turned out to be my problem. I have a 2008 Airstream with the same symptom, "click and nothing else". Removed the furnace this week, opened it up and found FIVE mud dobber "nests" or whatever those globs of mud are. Got rid of those, the turbine turns fine now.
