Furnace 2015 Flying Cloud - not warm air

First time using the furnace - not blowing warm air - any ideas? Is there a pilot light I need to light?

Thanks,

Glenn

We have a new 27fb flying cloud and this past week camping at the beach we had sporadic heat as well. The igniter is supposed to try 3 times to light and then give a fault. Sometimes the furnace lit right away, sometime it took 3 tries, and sometimes it just blew cold air. Frustrating for a brand new trailer. My husband talked to the service guy at our local dealer and it will be going back in to be checked out

Guys,

Keep reading, I have the same issue as do many.

I am convinced its an issue getting gas to the furnace. I have read folks have this issue sometimes after running out of propane. Seems like 2015 and 2016 model FCs.

My advice is to keep trying. There's got to be an issue with the furnace having trouble purging air. Eventually it seams to light.

I would suggest running the stove cooktop with all three burners on for a few minutes to help purge the gas line of any air. Having said that, in the 25FB and 27FB models the furnace is in the rear, so purging may be an issue since the furnace is the last appliance on the gas line.

Also, go underneath and smell for any small gas leaks as there quite a few tee joints from the front to the back of the gas line run.

Switch the refrigerator to propane and see if the pilot light stays lit.

Also make sure the tank gas vales are all the way open.

maybe heat pump

You probably have this fixed by now but I was just wondering if you could have the heat pump going instead of the furnace.

Sometimes it's the simple things, did the dealer fill the tanks, are the valves open, is the wall thermostat in the furnace mode, is the Battery Disconnect in "USE" mode if no external power, the gas supply lines purged of air (all of them, to each gas appliance).

Unhappy blower runs, but no hot air

we had full tanks, and all other appliances worked fine on gas. Checked for propane leaks underneath - none; and unit is in furnace mode not heat pump. Will light off the first time sometimes, and run, then later in even when it tries to relight it does not and fan blows cold air. The other thing we saw when we took the cover off was parts and pieces of rivets and other debris laying on the circuit board. Cleaned that off, but problem persists. I must say how disappointed we are with finding the debris, we bought the trailer brand new, and have had water connection leaks, and now furnace problems. Have plans to contact Airstream Quality guys to give them the feedback as well.

Medjrd, don't know if you've solved the problem but we have not. Been going on for two three months. Just went to the trailer to test the furnace for our FL trip at the end of the week. Furnace blower came on, purged itself and then the furnace came on, went off in 5 seconds, did this six times, on the seventh stayed on for 30 seconds as well as the eighth time on the ninth it stayed on. The blower was on the whole time. It's been to the AS dealer two times, everything was replaced except the furnace propane control valve and the sail switch.

I am going to try it again tomorrow and if she does not fire up correctly I am taking it in and they will replace both the valve and the sail switch, then it's basically a new furnace and the propane regulators were replaced in October.

This is a one year old 2015 30' FC. Bummer

Bud, very outside chance but is it possible you may have a bad tank or tanks of propane. Did they try switching to the opposite tank, or try a different tank completely?

Likely the sail switch. The actual arm on switch may be bent and not allowing the contact to close. Found that on mine after several months of trying everything else. New burner ignitor electrode, control board, pressure regulator on the tank and over temp switch. Finally while at the factory they pulled out the sail switch and it was bent. I've tweaked it and got it working pretty well but bought a new one and a spare. Not expensive. Just need a bit warmer day to do the replacement which is quick and easy.

One thing I found was if I started the furnace and used a rag to cover the about half of the exhaust it would start up easily. My guess is that the back pressure from the rag was enough to push harder on the sail switch.
