Fleixble gas connectors on Suburban furance?

Is it legal or safe to use flexible gas connectors on my suburban furnace? I used one on the hot water heater and it has been working well.

It may be legal but I would question the wisdom. Trailer are subject to vibration and all metal objects have a given time that they will fail under vibration. Flexible piping was not made flexible in order to absorb vibration but rather to make it easy for original installation and provide for limited movement for servicing.

Soft copper tubing provides the flexibility necessary for installation but offer a stronger structure against vibration.

Howie:

Thanks for the wisdom. I just was wondering because I have to hunt down somebody who will let me borrow all their equipment to get the job done. I don't have a blow torch, solder, flux or the proper grit paper.

On soft copper pipe used for GAS you do not want to solder the connections. You want to use a FLARING tool and FLARE fittings. All you will need is a small pipe cutter and the flaring tool.

Brian - The cutter and flare tool last a LONG time. Purchase
the good heavy ones. The punky little one's will frustrate.
Also, practice flaring a few times out in the open - before
doing the belly-flop. A smooth cut and a proper flare make
the work MUCH easier. One more..soft bends that do not
crimp. Just a few friendly.......
