You can buy a 15 ft 50 amp chord. I have one. It only weighs just north of 10 lbs. I got tired of the bulky and heavy 25 footer. Most of the time you are within a few feet of the electrical box and 25 ft chord is totally unnecessary.

The dealer tossed a mediocre 30' 50 amp cord into the back of the trailer. It resides at home along with a 14' extension to take power from the house to the trailer when we are loading out for a trip.

I ordered the 15' 50 amp cord captioned above, but will also continue to carry the 36' primary 50 amp cord and the 14' 50 amp extension cord as we have been one place we needed that 50' length. I also have a 50 amp to 15 amp pigtail to use with a regular extension cord at the storage unit to keep the battery bank charged since the trailer is under roof out of the sun, but not the heat....

We carry several adapters to use a standard 30 amp trailer plug, or a split cord with two 30 amp plugs or one 30 and one 20 amp with an adapter.

The cost was $129.99 on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Conntek-14455-...15%27++rv+cord

With state tax and shipping via mail, it sucked $156.80 out of the wallet.

When I get another 50 amp shore cord, I intend to leave the other one at home- lying permanently behind the shrubs, so all I have to do at home is pick it ip and plug it in.

Question for those of you with the new ducted system. Seems everyone agrees it is much quieter than the standard a/c.
But since it is a "cooling" system after all, and given the ducting is made of heat-conductive aluminum and is routed between two aluminum skins with some insulation, how does it cool? Is the single 15K unit sufficient for the 25/27ft trailers? And if you have not actually camped in hot climates, maybe some of you have tested the system at a dealer's lot when it was fairly hot/humid outside and can chime in.
I realize cooling is a relative measure and is directly related to the outside temperature. But since I live in Texas, a/c is very important.
Thanks, John

This Again! Did you read the preceding pages?
Based on 51 days out in the AS this season and 21 with the new ducted ...Yes, the single AC cools very efficiently in 95-100 degree temps in our 25' Eddie Bauer ... both with and without shade and both in campgrounds and the dealership lot. It is SIGNIFICANTLY more even cooling than previous models. We have not needed additional fans to "redistribute" the cold * or heat - as we now have temps hovering around freezing.
We have two fantastic fan openings and a skylight - in addition, there is also an Eddie Bauer metal vented opening at the front (and also rear side).

The additional insulation is a plus and quite noteworthy as mentioned before. I have no idea just what your ambient temperature is and whether you want advice on a 25 or 27; they are different.

Better than taking a stranger's word for it, may I suggest that you visit your local dealer and see for yourself.

Yesterday, we converted both air conditioners to the prior version of condensate pan and the noise reduction was very noticeable and it seems to cool more effectively. We tossed the two dinky plastic condensate catch cups on each unit that rattled against the outer skin.

Today, we started the air conditioner at 102 outside with no shade in high humidity Dallas area. In about 40 minutes the trailer was cooled down to the high 70s.

Just another example of Airstream 'paddling against the tide' from the rest of the RV industry! They use a single A/C gasket now when using the Dometic aux. drip kit when the specification from Dometic is for TWO gaskets! This raises the drip cups off the roof so the DON'T RATTLE and are not sandwiched between the roof and the base pan of the A/C unit.

Funny, how everyone else in the industry has no problems with the drains of their A/C units........except Airstream!

Wow...guess I drilled into a healthy nerve!
I did read the previous 5 pages and all I saw was one report with the outside air temp being around 86 degrees and 78 degrees inside....I was simply looking for more replies, especially in hotter weather.

I realize ducted a/c alone will increase circulation...just wanted to know if the aluminum skin on top of the ducting was significantly affecting the temperature of the cooled air at the outlets. I agree the insulation should help. But never having owned an airstream, I notice that a common complaint is the hot/cold inner skin due to limited insulation.

As to my 25/27ft query, I have noticed that most of the 2014 and earlier 27 footers had 2 a/c systems, while many of the 2015s have only one. That in itself would lead me to believe the new system is more efficient.

And yes I will be checking out dealer units at the Dallas RV show this weekend. Only "problem" is we will have much cooler weather and therefore I probably won't get an honest test.

It will be interesting after a period of several months if we find out the ducted A/C is so much better that the second unit is not necessary for the vast majority of units.

An interesting phenomenon is that so far from my experience, when the Zone 1 is on, the most air flow is in the bedroom, and Zone 2, more is up front in my 30 RB. Also, there should be a fix to the outlets in the bedroom so they do not blow in one's face when the fan is running at any speed.

In my 25 there is no need for zones. It works great and is considerably quieter.

I love it.

We need zones.
I'm always freezing.
My wife is always burning up.
We need 2 televisions.
I'm more "This Old House".
She's more "Dancing With the Stars".

The good news, is I bet there will be aftermarket owner installable operational, diversion, and flow control, vents to replace the lent catching screen, that is used from Jackson Center. If your inventor you could make a few bucks....

1. Must be out of aluminum with a clear coat.
2. Attractive.
3. Simple.
4. Cost efficient.
5. Direct the air to where you want it.
6. Close down or close off the vent air flow.

Simple.... I will purchase a set!

Now you can have your 2015 A/C Zoned... very simple.

If you have two units you can leave one off. If you have one unit and need two you have a problem.

I'm cold. I'm running the heat pump up front.
My wife is hot. She's running the air conditioner in the back.
You can't do that with one unit.
For me it is moot/not a point of contention. I already have the trailer and it already has 2 a/c units.
Most dealers in the south order the units for inventory with 2 a/c's.

If you have a single Dometic CCC-2, I don't believe that it will allow you to operate separate zones on heat and cool from the different roof units.
