Dometic Penguin 2 install tech question.

Hi all,
I have installed a new Penguin 2, wired it all, installed the ccc2 thermostat and nothing happens. The thermostat is blank, no codes or anything.
I have power to the unit, 110v and 12 volt, and I can trace 12v down to the ccc2 with a test light on the rj11 connector.
Its a Dometic penguin 2 low profile model 641816.

Does anybody have any thoughts? I missed Dometics support hrs today.
Thanks
Mark

What did you use for the comm cable from the A/C unit to the CCC-II? Standard phone cable does not work. The ends have to show color continuity when the tabs on the jacks are in the same orientation and are facing each other.

Lewster,
I used cat5 cable, crimped my own ends, payed attention to make sure same color wires were orientated the same way on each connector. Ended up redoing connectors a few times because I thought that might be the problem. I bought a 4 conductor phone cable today and tried that too, nothing.
When you say the connectors are facing each other, that makes me wonder.
With the tabs facing up, I started left to right with my color combination.

Went out and checked my com wire, they were backwards. redid connectors so with both tabs up, facing each other, color combination matches.
Nothing changed. ccc2 blank screen.
Perhaps I fried it with wires crossed?
Thanks for the help.

To the greatest extent, as long as both ends of the cable are identical, backwards wont matter and certainly will not induce a short.

Check the 3 amp fuse on the relay board. Also, try the other phone jack on the board for your comm cable.

Be doubly sure you cable is wired straight through. The two connectors should be wired the same and not be mirror images of each other. So if you have, on one end, from left to right, white/blue - blue - orange/blue - orange then you should have, from left to right, white/blue - blue - orange/blue - orange on the other end. If you hold them up so the connectors face each other the wires should not match, they should reverse.

This is the opposite of what is used for telephone connections.

I checked the 3 amp fuse last night and couldn't find one. Took the shroud off checked the circuit board area.
I have 12v coming into the board. Checked with light probe.
I will work on the com wires tonight to sort that out.Click image for larger version

Update:

It was a bad ccc2, wired a new com cable the way Jammer suggested, plugged in the ccc2 and was still dead. Ups brought the new one I ordered, plugged that one in and its working great!
Thank you all for the help, it was really stumping me.
Mark.
