Question Coleman AC repair or replace

I plugged in the power to this after sitting a number of years, the fan goes on.

Then after about 5 minutes it stopped. I think when it calls for the compressor it cuts out.

If I take it off, because it needs a good cleaning and bring it to a repair shop rather than have a guy get on the roof is it worth the trouble.

I think I can get a new one for $400 and get $150-200 for the old one with the shroud on Ebay so the net is only about $250.

Next question will any brand swap in to it's place (issues like a drip pan or tube) be a problem?

The Coleman probably isn't worth the hassle of repairing. They are designed to be "throw away" units, and very little can be repaired on them, even if the parts could be obtained.

Thumbs up Replace.

Replace. Search for "Carrier" and "pattersontoo" for info on replacing anything with a Carrier, probably the easiest install going.

I have a dealer that sells both the Carrier and Duo Therm.

He claims that Duo Therm is better, now that may be a profit driven answer?

Carrier is the only company that offers a RV airconditioner, that has front and rear cold air exhaust louvers, that slowly oscillate, if you so select.

Creates far better circulation.

Also, the Carrier is the only one that has an "air shower."

Directs all the air straight down.

Your outside, working and get hot? Not a problem. Come inside your Airstream and take a "air shower." Works great, and fast too.

When your cooled down, flip a switch and the air returns to normal delivery, either oscillating or not. Your choice.

Far superior unit than Duo Therm.

Carrier also has a very low profile unit. Only 7 1/2 inches high.
