Coleman A/C motor question

I have a Coleman Mach III on a 1976 TT. The motor will spin freely if spun by hand. When the unit is turned on, the motor locks up or will turn very hard by hand. It does not turn on it's own. Am I looking at getting a new motor or is there another problem that this is a simptom of? Thanks for any help or advice you may be able to offer.

Ricky

One of the field coils is bad.

Replace the motor.

Over the years I've replaced the motor in the Coleman on my Trade Wind twice. Each time I was able to find one locally, once in south Austin, TX and the other in North Little Rock, AR.

It's not that bad a job, and the results are certainly gratifying.
