Check your aging A/C shroud

Check your aging A/C shroud. I was on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway returning from a trip when a another driver indicated that something was amiss. The A/C shroud was standing straight up in the wind. I slowed and was able to get to a cross over and stop. My wife and I tied a rope from the bumper over the shroud to the front frame to hold it in place. I removed the shroud yesterday and found it so brittle from UV exposure that it had cracked around the bolt holes allowing it to break loose. The shroud is now reinforced with fiberglass and fender washers. It will soon receive a nice coat of Interlux Brightside Polyurethane and be ready to go. Check your shroud.

Shroud Reinforcement

I was afraid of the same thing happening to my shroud. I took it off and sanded the inside and then reinforced the whole top with fiberglass. While it was upside down I glassed the flat portion which encompassed the front screw holes and the four screw holes around the fan. It seems very solid now.

Good luck with yours.

Ciao, Brian

Armstrong A/C Shroud

Hello,
We have 73 Overlander without the A/C Shroud. It had blown off with previous owner. We've had it now for 3 yrs and have been looking for one to replace it. We have Armstrong TR21-12. Someone may have the one I need and he has sent me a picture of it. I'm going to measure mine ( since I don't know what the original looked like). I'm not sure the man knows what model # his was, he hasn't said. Does anyone out there have a picture of that particular unit? Maybe someone could direct me to a picture somewhere on the net. I've looked at all the pic here and I don't see the one I need.
Thanks for your help.
