Carrier 13,500 ac unit for a 66 safari

hey guys ive tested and tested and found my factory ac unit is trashed so im looking for a new one. i know someone with a carrier 13,500 btu ac unit in like new condition that he wants a couple hundred bucks for. is it a big deal to pull out the factory roof unit and install one of these? does it fit good w our curved ceilings? and will 13,500 be enough for a 22 foot safari? keep in mind i do live in fl. i dont have any pictures of the unit but here is one just like it on ebay but a 15,000 instead of a 13,500

We have the 13.5 Carrier in our 22' Safari (not the heat pump version) and last summer in high 90's it was more than sufficient.

I put a Carrier on my 66 Caravel. The 13500 did a great job...even here in Texas. The installation is easy once you get it up top. The curved roof was no problem either...the inside unit fit well.

Than you think. If your 66 has the original AC then there will need to be some modifications necessary to install the 'new' unit. You will need to cut a 14" x 14" open as the original unit only had some smaller holes for pipes to pass thru. In addition to the larger opening it will require some structural bracing around the new opening to support the new unit. If you need details you can do a search to see what others have done. Also, I'm not sure if your new AC would have a drain pan for condensation runoff so you may want to check.

i relized about the 14x14 hole that needs to be trimed. i guess i was more worried about the curvature of our trailers and making sure there will be no leaks. and if the unit will cool enough for our safari.

also from what i read they seem to be a good reliable company for ac. has anyone had any problems with theres?

On my 15k heat pump, the electric strip does not work.

You mean besides the fact that they are no longer in business as an RV a/c company?
