Buzzing got me bugged!

Today I replaced the Univolt converter in my AS with an Intelli Power 9200. The Univolt worked, but I could not stand the buzzing! Although installing the 9200 was a breeze, I was very discouraged to find that once I unplugged the unit, the buzzing was coming from my Armstrong A/C unit as well!

Is this normal? I have searched the forums and haven't heard anyone else complain about this. I was hoping that the problem would be corrected with the new converter. The unit is off and the buzzing is identical to that of a Univolt.

Anyone have ideas about how to fix my problem besides a good set of earplugs or pulling the fuse?

Thanks in advance,
Brandon

The AC buzzing, is from a 24 volt transformer, that is hooked up to the air conditioner thermostat.

You can take the transformer out and soak it in a good clear enamel paint, for about one week. Rotate the transformer every day.

That will fill the gaps between the transformer laminations, and stop the noise.

Or, replace the transformer. Since it's a household door bell transformer, they are cheap. Any hardware store or a Home Depot will have them.

Thank you very much, Andy! I need to order a rock guard and a bunch of parts for my "new" '74 Sovereign. I will call your store for a quote on the transformer as well.

60 cycle hum from AC

I had the same problem with the AC in my 73 Overlander. I loosened the transformer attachment and slid a small piece of cardboard between the transformer mounting plate and the control box and retightened the transformer mount. The result is that the hum is completely gone.
