Best air conditioner?

What would be your opinion the best brand of air conditioner to buy for an early 90's 34 foot airstream?. This will be bought next year and I want to go with a 15,000 model...thanks

Carrier is still the best, even though they are pulling them off the market.

The Dometics work fine, though not near as good as our old ice-breathing Colemans, which could not be replaced.

Thanks guys...looks like I will take a close look at the Dometic brand. Where will I find the best price on a unit?

You would be VERY smart to have someone who knows what they're doing replace them; they'll need new drain pans and be made sure they're caulked and the drains are connected correctly. When I replaced both of mine, they had a cool little forklift to get them into position. Get the heat strips if you're traveling in the cold.

I put a 15,000 btu Carrier on my 34 footer and it keeps it nice and cool in there. I also painted the roof white, which I recommend to you as well.

Andy, what's the scoop on the Carrier's being pulled off the market? I hadn't heard that....they are such a good a/c unit.

I bought mine about a year ago. I considered it the best out there based on the research I did, and I've not been disappointed.

lotsaluck,

Hey Jim,

Here is a recent thread that touches on the subject.
