Best 30 amp AC unit?

I note that Camping World is offering $59 installation. Given that I do not know the age of my current roof top non-ducted unit, I am thinking about pre-emptively replacing it before it quits on the first day of a sweltering camping trip. Also adding a Micro-Aire.

My only concerns are plenty of cold air and reliability. Noise and low profile not important.

What do you recommend?

You could look to see if there is a tag on it that might show a date. Give you a better Idea of what you have.

The Dometic Penguin series is what you will see on new Airstreams. Start there.

Not sure what you have now but 13.5 pulls 9 to 10 amps 15 pulls 14 to 15 amps that's with GOOD power. If the power goes down to say 110 the amps will go up.

With only 1 AC I would go for the 15 btu you can always run it on low and have the extra cooling for the really hot days.

The Dometic line will work with your existing interior condensate drainage system.
If you have a wall mounted thermostat, the wire between the thermostat and the rooftop unit is a data cord that only use by Dometic (that I am aware of), so there would be no new wiring required.

I purchased a Dometic Brisk Air because it was advertised as quieter and more efficient. The air flow noise is actually louder that the prior Penguin.

If I were buying a replacement today, I would purchase another Dometic Penguin.

Beware! Others have had roof damage from CW techs climbing on the roof. Not all know how to work and step on an Airstream roof. I personally will not let CW on my trailer.

Ditto guskmg. Our CW took our AIrstream hostage for several months. She came back filthy and not satisfied. They had no idea how to treat our Airstream. Marcus Lemonis needs a Profit to visit himself.

Better off to keep what you have until it breaks. In the last three years there have been hundreds of posts on several forums about the new air conditioners having multiple failures in the first couple years of ownership.

The lifespan of the older units was considered to be a decade or two
Now you are lucky to get four or five years out of one.

Maybe since almost all of them are now manufactured in China has something to do with it

Thanks all.

Ironically, CW owns the closest AS dealer to me.
