Belly Heat

I've tried to find the answer to this by searching the forum but haven't been able to.

My question is if the furnace in my '90 25' Excella provides heat to the tanks in the belly. I know that's the case with later models but I can't find information on when that feature was first introduced. I appreciate your input!

Furnace heat to the belly pan tanks has been used on Airstreams since the 1960's at least.

The current smaller airstreams have ductless furnaces, like my 20' FC. They do not have the belly pan tank heat ducts. They do have 12 volt electric tank heaters instead. However, if not plugged into shore power, those 12 volt tank heaters will kill your batteries very quickly, so I really don't know how they are of much value. Each heater tanks about 7 amps at 12 volts.

I think your trailer has a similar floor plan to mine, except the bed is in the opposite corner.

From the furnace there is a flexible duct that runs beneath the kitchen sink toward the rear. Under the wardrobe floor there is a tee in the duct. From the tee, one side of the duct dumps warm air between the tanks.

Thanks Alan and idroba. I'm going to go over and work on the trailer tomorrow and I'll check out the ducting.
