Battery hook up, parallel or series

I just purchased a 24 foot 1977 argosy rv.
Mechanically and frame wise its great, and im in the process of restoring the interior.
Id like to know how i should hook up the starting and the deep cycle batteries.

???? Starting battery is hooked to the engine starting cables - only two cables to connect there - kind of confused by your question...???

'House' batteries, if more than one, and if they are 12 volt, are hooked in PARALLEL - Pos to Pos & Neg to Neg - to remain at 12 volts for the RV's systems...

there are two sets of wires... I'm assuming the ones on the left are for the starter and the set on the right are for the deep cycle battery...
what charges the deep cycle battery?
I was out camping, had the vehicle plugged in, drove home for an hour and the deep cycle battery hardly had a charge in it...
