From Armstrong to low profile air V

I wanted to show how I fixed all of the perimeter holes left from the 1971 dealer install of an armstrong air conditioner.


These are the screw holes left after I removed the old unit.(about 1 screw per inch)



Olympic rivits are so cool!!!


I cut the rivits close to the head and smoothed them with a dremal tool.

Where is the old Armstrong?
Are there any parts or manuals left of it?
Shroud?

Interior register section?

Please tell me you didn't just toss it off the roof.

Oh and very important, How did you clean off the old pookey (vulkem) around the removed unit roof area?

EDIT: Well I went back and see that the install was a dealer done. Wonder what he did with the left overs then?

Hello,
I did my best to carry the unit down the ladder. I have it all and it was working when it was removed. the cover is not so good because I (with help) replaced the old broken compressor with a new taller one. the tall compressor had to have more room so i added an ugly fiberglass box to it. you might be able to see what I am talking about in this picture. it is on the ground behind the ladder. as far as information, I have the original operating instructions that are self stick. The warranty card and the original window sheet that shows the Bay Breeze air conditioner to be a 425.00 option. Distantdrummer, is there a certain part you are looking for? you are welcome to all or any of it for free. just let me know, Don


I forgot to tell how how i removed the Vulkem. it took me two attempts(about 4 hours) to remove all of the old stuff. I used putty knives and hammers(be careful not to dig into the skin) I also used some of the spray stripper from wal-mart(Dont get on your skin or on plastic parts).
