Yes, there should be an AC thermostat there.

in my 73 excella furnace thermostat is on roadside partiton wall in rear bedroom between bedroom and closet. The air conditioning thermostat is on the roadside partition wall in living room in front of the fridge.

Sorry for the delay I was working on my excella. Welder arrived today and we began welding together new frame rails. Here is the wiring diagram I promised. Two wires connect to the fan speed control ( High and Low). Two wires connect to the cooling Circuit to start compressor etc. It looks like the green wire at G1 is fan High and the black wire at G2 is fan Low.

Thermostat(s)

Mine has 2.
One near the front to control the a/c and/or heater and another a little back to control just the a/c.
It would help you a lot to get a manual or even the workshop type.
I believe they are easily available.

Our '78 Sovreign has two 'stats, one for the A/C and one for the furnace. Thee fan control is a knob on the ceiling unit. Just a slightly off topic note, be sure your electric supply is adequate. I almost junked a perfectly good Armstrong unit because of an inadequate extension cord.
