What is the model number of ther replacement Duo Therm low profile a/c. I have a 72 Land Yacht 25' and I want to replace the armstrong tr21-12 air conditioner. I want to be sure I get one that will fit. I heard they have some that heat as well as cool. Any experience with these? I will take any advice I can get.

armstrong ac unit

Hello from twinke74...I also have an Armstrong ac unit mod# TR21-12.on my 1974 overlander...it seems to work well at most of the time...there are two different fans ,one is the squrell cage blower (evaporator),and the other the outside( condensor) blower. the ac compressor has a thermal overload/limiter switch.my understanding is that the compressor cycles on/off depending on r22 refrigerent temp/pressure in relation to inside dailed temp setting. once the inside temp is reached say 76deg the hole unit shuts off! after a few min's it recycles on.ALTHOUGH...sometimes the compressor does not engage! as we are going into fall,I can live with it at this time.I will be looking for parts, diagrams as I am one of those DO IT YOURSELF types. wish me luck!

Welcome to the club! Me too!

Anyway, the closest manual I have been able to find to the TR21-12 is for a TR25-12 (forum thread containing links to the manual here)

Wile it won't be exact, there will be lots of similarities, and might give you enough insight to get yours working correctly.

Thanks to everyone for your help. I think we are ready to get a duo therm low profile penguin a/c. I would love to connect with folks who have restored a 1970's airstream. See your pictures, hear your stories. I have had this one since 1980 when I lived in it during college. Then it sat for 15 years before I recovered it. I lived in it when I met my husband. Now 28 years later we are ready to take it on the road. The love nest.
