Anyone got a thermostat for an Armstrong AC
I would be eternally grateful for a working wall mounted thermostat for a 70s vintage Armstrong air conditioner. There are no new replacements available as far as I can tell.

I thought any thermostat would work. They are pretty simple devices.

Any "closes on rise" T-stat will work, or a heating and cooling stat switched to "cool".

Most thermostats are simple with only 2 leads. This one has 4 leads. I have been told there are no new replacements available. If I understand the wiring the wires are 1. positive 2. fan 3. low cool and 4. high cool

The contact closes (turns on device) when temperature rises (above set temperature).

So I assume this thermostat works opposite a furnace thermostat?

I'll take a pic of mine, and post it. It's no longer in use.

Here you go, it's got some smoke damage from the fire. PM if you think it might work.

I may have one from my '72 Trade Wind. I will look through my salvaged parts this weekend.

It's the same thermostat. I don't care what the cover looks like, mine is good.

Did you find your thermostat? I have a '66 tradewind with the original thermostat for the armstrong AC. let me know if you are still looking and I might be able to help--our Armstrong finally died (or was sent to an early death by repairman who didn't know old ACs so we don't need it now
