aluminum shroud

I have been thinking about having my AC shroud made of polished aluminum. A friend of mine does aluminum work and thinks it would be no problem to fabricate. Any ideas on whether this is a good or bad plan?

I'm pretty sure I have seen a pic here on the forum of one. I need a shroud and also have a buddy that has a fabrication company but my luck the old A/C will quit as soon as I refit. I'll wait for a new A/C or find a used one. Robert

If you choose to go this route, the only advice I have is to be sure that the ventilation openings are the same size and in the same place, and if you have any foam tape on the underside of the shroud, that it also be the same.

Some roof airs require the shroud for proper operation. What type do you have?
