Air Conditioning Leak

I have a 1976 Sovereign which we just purchased and the A/C appears to have a leak that runs down the inside wall and come out over the access door to the refrigerator. The drain comes out just in front of the tire about 12-15" from where the leak is. The book says it has two drains but I can only find one, may not be the original unit though. Have looked at everything that I can get to inside, will taking the cover off on roof help me find where the leak is coming from? Thanks
