Air Conditioner weight

How much weight would we save if we removed our original air conditioner off of our 1973 Overlander and just put a vent in it's place?

They weigh around 100 pounds. A vent in its place would weigh between 5-15 pounds.

The original Ac weighs about 120 pounds.

If you remove it, the increase in the fuel economy would be about 1 gallon saved, per ball park, 5000 gallons used.

People do not travel with a full tank of water, to save fuel.

A full tank of water, reduces the fuel mileage even less than removing the AC, "AND" increases the center of gravity.

A full water tank, lowers the center of gravity, which helps stabilize the trailer when towing. Also, it's a great place to get water, when you blow a radiator hose.

I was going to say around 70 lbs. Not really worth it for weight reduction. It is priceless on a hot buggy summer night escpecially when the neighbor has a camp fire going and the smoke is blowing your way. By the way Andy from inland is with it. That guy is a fountain of great information I know he has helped me a few times

That's about 50,000 miles of towing. I'm sure at some point in that 50K, you'll run into a spot that you wished you had the air conditioner.
Now, if it doesn't work, and the shroud is broken, and it leaks rainwater, that's another matter entirely, as it makes no sense to not do something about it.
