Air Conditioner Low Power

Our Duo Therm Air Conditioner runs fine on high but when you try to turn it down to low or medium it shut off completely and a red signal light comes on with a low power message. If you turn it back up to high it runs fine. Does anyone have a idea of what is going on? We're running it at 30 amps.

I suspect you have a bad capacitor. The fan uses different ones for different speeds.

I experienced this on my 91 DuoTherm. Replaced caps, motor failed a few months later.
My mains voltage always remained acceptable... 120-128 volts.
Those long shaft motors are difficult to find for those specific Airstream models. A Penguin II might be in your future!

It's a little red light on the air conditioner housing that comes on to indicates low power. It's just weird that it runs fine on high speed.

I'm not sure if its the original OEM air conditioner. We're the 2nd owner. It's pretty old though. This just started this year.

Penguin II $852.00. Ouch.

The P2 is improved. I think it's worth the cost. It uses cups rather than a leaky pan. You'll also need a thermostat and air distribution box.
