We have just passed our first year anniversary with the Safari. Since its a little more difficult to get to the roof, I haven't pulled the shroud off the Duo-Therm Penguin unit. Does the water drain stay pretty free of debris or is this something that requires annual maintenance?

My extreme curiosity would be screaming at me to at least take a peek under the hood. You might want to clean the dust and bugs off the coils and shopvac the detritus ($5 word for loose matter) that you may find in the housing. Also check any tubing insulation and wiring connections. Just like a homes HVAC system, it should be inspected annually. Preventive Maintenance never hurts. Failure to check always does.
You might also want to pull your A/C user manual and see what it recommends and the frequency.
Why do air condioners never break in the winter and heaters never break in the summer? One of lifes mysteries.

Bobby,
I'm usually pro-active in this area. It's just a matter of getting a ladder up on that curved roof. Once I do this, I will pop open the top. I am quite curious to see what the Penguin looks like inside.

Just a curious question, which seems to fit this thread.
Does anyone have first hand knowledge if A/S has ever made a trailer in recent years(from 1980 onward) without a A/C drain tube? I, for the life of me, can't imagine this to be BUT...
This was brought to my attention recently that, this might have happened.
ciao
