AC Replacement
Hi all, the weather near us has turned hot (100+). During a hour long trip today the temperature of the air coming out of my front AC was never below 60. Does this mean that the AC is not working optimally? I assume that the temp of the output should be high 40s or low 50s. Is this correct?
If so, I assume I should replace the unit which is the original coleman from 1984. We're planning a 5 week trip beginning in early August and I'd like to get the AC replaced by then. I don't want to tackle the job of replacement myself since I don't really have anyone to help, it's very hot here right now so I don't relish working out in the sun and I'm afraid I would get into a jam and have lots of other things which I have to do before the trip.
My questions for you are:
1. What kind (brand, model, etc.) of AC should I buy to replace this unit? Should I put in a 15,000 BTU unit?
2. Who can I get to properly install it - I live 200 miles from the nearest Airstream Dealer so I know I will have to travel to get this job done.
I am willing to pay a fair price for the unit and a fair price for the install but I don't want to be taken advantage of.
I live in far Northern California on I5 about 70 miles form the Oregon border.
