AC drip hose

Just had an AC installed and could not run the drip tube down inside the walls without pulling off a bunch of panels. Now the water runs off the outside. A friend recommended a novel idea of taking a drain tube from the drip pan and running it to the adjacent sink vent pipe coming from the roof. Drill into the side of the pipe, thread the tube down a ways and then the drip runoff from the AC goes down the sink drain. Before I try this has any one had experience with this or any other advice? I'll secure the tubing on the roof so it doesn't move in transit. Thanks.

Drip tube

Great idea.
Check carefully with a water hose to make sure vent is actually connected. When I took the walls out of mine I found the vent pipe had come loose (or was improperly connected in the first place) at an elbow inside the wall. If that happened in your unit you would have a slow water leak for a long time before you knew about it.

Your idea will work OK, provided that the cap on the sewer outlet is "off".

If the cap is secured, the drain water from the AC will start coming up in the bathtub.
