A/C units Issue Prior to Trip

Hello all- preparing for my first big trip- Ordered my 2017 Flying Cloud 25 FB Twin with 2 a/c units. I was going to install the 'Soft start' (didn't install) and noticed something that makes no sense to me. If I 'turn off' zone 2 and start zone 1 in cool mode zone 2 starts shortly after zone 1 compressor starts ??? I have 30 amp service at my location and when zone 2 kicks in it doesn't trip the breaker (which it should)- Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated -heading out from Virginia to Montana Thursday. I was hoping to get Jackson Center to diagnose -forget that, first opening was August. Any recommended RV dealers/shops between VA & MT would also be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Odd. I thought all units with 2 a/c were set up with 50 amp service. Do you mean that you are using a 30 amp pedestal?

Is the second unit on cool or just fan? If The 2nd compressor doesn't kick in it wouldn't be a huge draw. Set zone 2 to OFF until you figure it out.

My unit is 50 amp-I couldn't run 50 amp service from this location so I use a dog bone to go from 30 amp to 50 amp at the Airstream. What strikes me as odd is if the zone 2 is off and I start zone 1 all is fine. If zone 1 is off and I start zone 2 both units start , apparently the zone 2 compressor isn't kicking in because it doesn't trip the 30 amp breaker-

Thinking I'd overload the 30 amp service I would always run one unit at a time-zone 2 didn't get cold-blew barely cool air-I use a 30 amp dog bone at the service to a 50 amp going to the Airstream-you're absolutely right - 2 units are 50 amp-

You have Zone 2 OFF and it starts? Perhaps it is not starting, only the fan is running, since clearly a start would trip the breaker. Sorry, I am not familiar with 2 zones but read your manual carefully and see if there is some manual mode that runs the fan even if OFF is selected. I know this is true for heating, Auto for the fan must be selected or the heat pump fan will run with the furnace.

Is the fan speed is set to Auto mode on zone 2, not low/med/high. If it is not on Auto doesn't the fan run continuously at whatever speed is selected?

Thanks for your input-the manual suggested to turn everything 'off' reset code for both zones from the thermostat -which I did -same thing. One service tech over the phone said the unit's probably no good and needs to be replaced-'RIGHT'-said it can't be recharged or tested for freon level-WRONG again- this is what drives me crazy- incompetence !

You're absolutely right-it must be set to Auto-which it always is/was- no change

One or more DIP switches might be set wrong. If you are handy, you might investigate yourself. If not, back to the dealer.
