A/C Replacement

I have a 1973 Ambassador and need to replace the A/C. Should I go to an Airstream Dealer - 150 miles away? an Airstream Restoration Co - 500 miles away? or an RV dealer? I want to make sure they utilize the built in drain and not make a leaking mess.

You should be able to take it to an RV dealer. Just make sure you get the drip kit that may be an extra expense item and they connect it to the drain line and verify it drains out below. Have you priced out any AC units yet?

No do you have any recommendations? I am new to the airstream world? The A/c works but it is the original and it leaks condensate inside - I am concerned the drain pan has rusted out because condensate does come out the drain line also and I am going to have to drill out one of the cover screws and two do not wind out because they are so rusty - any recommendations would be helpful.

If at all possible fix your old one.The new ones are not built as well and run the new high pressure freon system. They don't build them like they used to.
